American illustrator whose work has appeared in numerous children's books. She is well known for her illustrations that are featured in Doreen Cronin's 2000 book Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type. She also collaborated with Cronin on other books such as Dooby Dooby Moo and Duck for President.
She honed her illustration skills at Pratt Institute.
She received the Pratt Institute Alumni Achievement Award in the year 2000. In the year 2015, she was inducted into the Society of Illustrators Hall of Fame.
She was married to illustrator and writer Ted Lewin. With him, she has co-written and illustrated several books about their travels to remote places including Uganda in Gorilla Walk and Mongolia in Horse Song, as well as How to Babysit a Leopard: and Other True Stories from Our Travels Across Six Continents.
