Initially famous as a rally racer in events such as the London-Sydney Marathon and the Round Australia Trial, Green later became known for his Seven Network motorsports commentary, as well as for his rally-themed articles and his half a dozen novels. His debut novel, Alice to Nowhere, was adapted into a 1986 miniseries.
