Actress known for her role as Mackenzie Hargreaves, the first transgender character on the Australian soap opera Neighbours. She is also a transgender activist and was in the case that set the precedent for a change in the Australian law that allows families access to stage one treatment for children.
She first appeared in public on the investigative journalism program Four Corners in 2014 to discuss her experiences in court and changing the law. She also appeared on Australian Story in 2016.
She has received many awards, including the 2016 GLBTI Person of the Year by GLOBE Community Awards and the 2019 Hero of the Year by Australian LGBTI Awards. She also won the Australian Human Rights Award in 2017 and was a recipient of the 2020 Medal of the Order of Australia.
