Ukrainian cinematographer who worked on more than 30 films and television miniseries. In October 2021, she died after an incident involving a prop gun held by Alec Baldwin during the production of the film Rust. The last video she ever posted on Instagram garnered over 2 million views and thousands of comments showing their love and support.
She grew up in the Russian city of Murmansk, on a Soviet military base in the Arctic. She earned her degree in International Journalism.
In 2019, she was named one of the "10 up-and-coming directors of photography who are making their mark" by American Cinematographer. She shot six episodes of the show A Luv Tale: The Series, which were released in 2021. Before getting into film, she worked as an investigative journalist with British documentary productions. She had seen a number of her projects go on to receive critical acclaim at film festivals around the world.
Her husband was Matthew Hutchins. They had a son named Andros.
Director Joel Souza was injured in the same incident that claimed her life.
