His passion for the arts was first sparked in Grade 8 when Aiko Suzuki taught a course in super 8 filmmaking. After a childhood of running the streets and a few scrapes with the law, John found his focus in athletics at Central Tech High School. His speed earned him an Athletic Scholarship to Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, BC, where he discovered his passion for acting. After two years, John moved to New York to study with acclaimed acting teacher Julie Bovasso and work as an usher at the Vivian Beaumont Theater. He then returned to Vancouver to pursue acting, eventually landing his first big Hollywood Feature Film- Alive. John has since starred in a variety of TV and film projects, including Intelligence, Robson Arms, The Handler, Brimstone, Kingdom Hospital, NYPD Blue, ER, The Practice, Eleventh Hour, Alive, Paycheck, Get Carter, Female Perversions, Vice, Chaos, Motorcycle Gang, 10.5 and 10.5 the Apocalypse, Traffic, Final Days of Planet Earth, Break A Leg, The Game, Seven, and The Whole Shebang. He has been honored with a Leo award for Best Lead Actor on Robson Arms and was nominated for a Gemini Award for Best Lead Actor for Intelligence. John has also co-written, produced, and starred in the award winning independent film Break A Leg, and co-founded the 3rd Street Theatre in Los Angeles. In 2008, he took on the role as producer as well as a lead actor in the feature film, "Guido Superstar" and in 2013 he will be joining the cast as recurring characters in SyFy's hit Continuum and the critically acclaimed drama Blackstone on Showcase / APTN. He is also Co-Artistic Director of Railtown Actors Studio and a personal acting coach for over 20 years.
