Olivier Gourmet is an internationally renowned actor from Belgium. He was born in 1963 in Namur, Wallonia, and grew up in Mirwart, where his father was a cattle dealer and his mother managed a family hotel-restaurant. At 13, he was sent to boarding school, where he discovered a talent for mimicry and comedy. He attended the Conservatoire de Liège and won first prize after two years. In 1996, he had his first significant role in a Dardenne brothers' film, The Promise. Since then, he has featured in every film from the Dardennes and has become a much sought after actor, making an average of five films per year.
