Former world rally car driver who raced professionally for over 16 years and became one of the most successful WRC drivers of all time. During his professional racing career, he won multiple championships, ranking 5th in rally wins with a total of 24 wins. After retiring in 2003, he then began his career as a racing executive.
He initially began his professional racing career in 1987. He was given his first chance to compete professionally during the 1987 1000 Lakes Rally in Central Finland.
He became the first person in rally car history to win a Championship as a driver and as a team executive in 2018.
He grew up living with his family in the Puuppola, Finland area. He and his wife Mia Miettinen have two children.
He tied with fellow rally driver Sebastien Ogier at one point with most rally wins of all time.
