Former club defender that played professional soccer for seventeen years. He initially began his professional club career with the University College Dublin Association Football Club in 1987. He also played for Derry City, Colchester United and Shelbourne for two separate stints. He retired and became a physiotherapist at Shamrock Rovers.
At the age of twenty, he played for the Republic of Ireland U-21 national team. He played in five games with Ireland's youth national team.
He played in over 200 club matches with the Shelbourne Football Club during his professional career. While with Shelbourne FC, he won five League of Ireland titles and he was named PFAI Young Player of the Year in 1992.
