Brazilian politician who has gained fame for his tenure as the governor of the state of Rio de Janeiro. He was elected as a Social Christian Party representative in October 2018 and assumed office in January 2019 following a successful career as a lawyer and judge.
He served as an officer within the Brazilian Navy between 1989-1992, eventually achieving the rank of lieutenant. He later worked as a criminal defense attorney between 1994-1997 before being appointed a federal judge in 2001.
He earned his doctorate in political science from Universidade Federal Fluminense in 2019. He also holds a master's degree in civil law.
He shares one son named Erick with his wife Helena.
